Glen Ellyn Youth Baseball - League Descriptions
GEYB Mission Statement:
Through proper guidance and exemplary leadership, the GEYBA program assists the youth of Glen Ellyn in developing the qualities of citizenship, discipline, teamwork and physical well being. By espousing the virtues of character, courage and loyalty, Glen Ellyn Youth Baseball is designed to develop superior citizens rather than superior athletes. And most of all, have FUN.
Glen Ellyn Youth Baseball separates its players into different house leagues by grade.
Tee-Ball 1:
Pre-kindergarden aged kids - plays during the spring of the year prior to entry into kindergarden. Kids hit the ball off of a tee, no catcher, and a dad occupies 1st base. Everyone plays the field, everyone bats.

Tee-Ball 2:
Kindergarten: Kids hit off a tee but by the end of the year, a coach may pitch the ball from a few feet away. Kids play 1st base for the first time, no catcher, everyone plays the field and bats. Teams are divided up by schools.
Bantam
Coaches pitch to the players the entire season, still no catcher, everyone plays the field and bats. Teams are divided up by schools.
Shetland
2nd Grade: Kids pitch 2 innings and coaches pitch to the kids for 3 innings for a 5 inning game. 10 players are allowed on the field including, for the first time, a catcher. Teams are divided up by schools. ?
Maverick
3rd Grade: Kids pitch all 6 innings and umpires are utilized for the first time. No lead-offs or stealing are allowed in this league. Playoffs at the end of the season determine a league champion. Teams will consist of players from multiple schools. Post-season travel play (9U) is introduced as we invite players to tryout for a travel team that competes against other local travel teams in competitive tournaments.?
Stallion
4th Grade: This year is a full draft. Teams are formed with no relation to schools. Managers form their teams based on a player evaluation and rankings from the previous yearís manager. Stealing is allowed after the ball crosses the plate. Post-season travel play (10U) continues as we invite players to tryout for a travel team that competes against other local teams in competitive tournaments.?
Pinto/Mustang
5th and 6th Grade: Age groups are combined for the first time as we divide the players by ability based on a player evaluation. Mustang is a highly competitive league where full baseball rules apply, including leadoffs, stealing and dropped third strikes. Pinto is a recreational league for players that might not have the same opportunity to pitch, catch or play the infield as they would in the Mustang league. Post-season travel play (11U and 12U) continues as we invite all players to tryout for a travel team that competes against other local teams in competitive tournaments.
Bronco/Pony
7th and 8th Grade: Age groups are still combined as we divide the players by ability based on a player evaluation. Pony, much like Mustang, is a highly competitive league designed for the serious ballplayer. Bronco is designed to be more like Pinto in which players who normally may not have the opportunity to pitch and catch will get an opportunity to play these positions. Post-season travel play (13U and 14U) continues as we invite all players to tryout for a travel team that competes against other local teams in competitive tournaments.
Colt/Palomino
High School Aged: This league is a high school program for players who want to continue to play baseball. Colt is for Freshmen and Sophomores and Palomino is for Juniors and Seniors. Teams play against local communities and amongst themselves. Rules are IHSA enforced with the exception of a continuous batting order (if desired by the manager).
