Umpire Information

Thank you for your interest in being an umpire during the 2010 Glen Ellyn baseball season!

An important part of preparing for this year's season is attending mandatory Umpire Training sessions. If you have participated in previous year's sessions, you will find that we will be doing things a bit differently this year. This year, training will be broken up into two "courses".

umpire photoWe have begun to inform (via emails provided) umpire candidates of the leagues they will be eligible to work in 2010 and therefore what training session needs to be attended. All Maverick and Pinto candidates have been contacted. If you have not yet received an email communication, it is likely because you are eligble to umpire in the Stallion league. If you have any questions, please feel free to directly contact our umpire executive board representative, Robert Lachs, directly at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Maverick League Umpires
This training will focus on the skills necessary to be an outstanding baseball umpire including:

· Game Management
· Working Behind the Plate
· Working as a Field Umpire
· Working as Part of an Umpire Crew
· Critical Rules

Training for Maverick umpires will take place over two sessions:

Part I – Sunday, March 7, 2010 from 7 pm – 9 pm at Ackerman Sports and Fitness Center.

Pinto and Stallion League Umpires
Experienced Umpires will attend a single training session that will focus on a discussion of the rules unique to each of the different Glen Ellyn Baseball leagues. At the conclusion of this session, umpires will be required to pass a written rules test for the league that they will be working in.

Training for Pinto umpires will take place on Sunday, February 28th, 2010 from 7 pm – 9 pm at Ackerman Sports and Fitness Center.

Training for Stallion umpires will take place on Sunday, March 21st, 2010 from 7 pm – 9 pm at Ackerman Sports and Fitness Center.
