What's New in Glen Ellyn Baseball for 2010
Although hard to imagine amidst a cold and snowy January, baseball season is fast approaching. As we celebrate 60 years of providing the best baseball experience for the youth of our community, many volunteers have been working hard during the off-season, along with the Park District in preparation of the best year ever for Glen Ellyn Baseball. The following are just some of the many enhancements you will not want to miss in 2010:

- The new, state-of-the-art, Village Green baseball complex, providing an authentic baseball experience with mounds and fences, will be open for its first complete season of baseball for our Stallion through Palomino leagues. With a large playground and newly built concession area (more like a café), coming to watch kids play ball offers a unique and awesome experience for the whole family to enjoy.
- The Pony league will offer a more enriched, travel-like experience with teams from Glen Ellyn playing in a combined league with teams from Lombard. In addition to offering more competition and the ability to play teams outside of Glen Ellyn, kids will have a blast experiencing play with wood bats during their “away” games at Lombard.
- Travel baseball continues to offer post-season tournament experience from 9U through 14U, offering kids the perfect blend of playing with and against their friends during the house portion of their season, and then playing a healthy amount of games during the travel portion of their season. In this highly competitive second season, top players from our community play against teams from other towns in a 4 to 5 week tournament schedule during July.
- Travel baseball is being further enhanced with the introduction of in-season part-time travel in which games will be played Sunday evenings against other towns.
- A later start to the regular season should result in fewer games cancelled and more practice opportunities leading up to the start of the season.
- Rules changes for the younger levels (T-ball through Shetland) continue to focus on enabling games to run more efficiently while focusing on developing the skills of our young players.
- Indoor baseball facilities (cages and field space) within our own community at the new Ackerman Sports & Fitness Center, managed by the Bulls/Sox Academy.
As we continue to listen to and respond to the feedback of the community, Glen Ellyn Baseball remains one of the premier Park District programs in the area. With its house league, full-time travel program, part-time travel program, and Fall-Ball offerings, Glen Ellyn Baseball is a full service baseball experience for the entire community. As always, we encourage members of the community to come out and volunteer. With an anticipated registration class of 1400 kids, our 60th baseball anniversary promises to be a year to remember.
